If you're anything like us, you'll no doubt have a mountain of books that you just never get around to reading, and we bet you just keep adding to it. Well, that's where thestoryinside comes in - have someone choose your book for you!

The process is simple: join the community, and each month sign up to be partnered with a buddy, who will then choose a book from your 'to read' list. At the end of each month there will be a community post to discuss your thoughts on the book(s) you read!

However, we're putting a twist on the traditional 'pick for me' routine and each month we'll vote on what theme or genre of book we'll be reading; now, of course this is open to personal interpretation, for example, if the genre is horror and you're not a big fan, you could go for a Goosebumps book, or even Twilight. There will be an opportunity in each voting post to ask any questions you might have, and there is also a genre & theme help post.

You do not need to take part every month! You must be a member of the community, but you don't need to sign-up every month. Also, please don't worry if you sign up and half way through the month you've been unable to read any of your chosen books - it happens to us all from time to time, so don't worry!

Of course, with every community, we have to have some rules:
• You must join the community to take part, but you do not need to take part every month, so please don't feel pressured. Membership does not mean you are signed up for each month's activities, so please watch out for sign-up posts.
• You must have a 'to read' list that is public (ie. Goodreads, a Tumblr post, a LJ post, etc.) as your buddy needs to be able to pick from your list.
• Please ensure you have a few books on your list. If there are any books you can't read for whatever reasons, you'll have the opportunity in the sign up post to let us know. It would also be helpful to have a good mixture of genres on your list.
• If you sign up but then realise you can't take part (meaning, you can't choose for your partner), please let a mod know ASAP so we can remove you from the sign-ups.

How it works: each month we vote on either a theme or a genre. We then pick books within the chosen genre/theme for our buddy. Easy peasy!

This month we are voting for a genre.

First of all, thank you to everyone who took part in the friending meme! I'm beyond chuffed with how well it did! Secondly, I'm going away for a week, so I'm going to post the discussion post and April voting now. Don't worry if you haven't been able to get much reading done! I'm just wanting to get these done so I'm not rushing about last minute :)

First of all, don't worry if you haven't finished your book(s)! I know you have three books chosen for you, and it's amazing if you read one or all of them, but don't worry if you didn't manage to read anything this month. This is meant to be fun, so please don't worry if you haven't managed to read anything, okay? ♥

Even if you didn't get to read anything this month, please feel free to take part in the discussion. Heck, even if you didn't take part this month, feel free to join in!

Please copy and paste this in the comments!

You can find links to your buddy's TBR here!

Remember, this month's theme/genre is:
FANTASY - WRITTEN BY A FEMALE AUTHOR
However, if you're buddy doesn't have any books on their TBR that matches both, you can pick one or the other :)

You have until March 5th to choose your buddy's books!

sign up

It's time to sign up for March! Sign ups will close on March 1st, and buddy assignments will be posted on the 2nd. You will then have until March 5th to choose your buddy's books.

This month's theme/genre will be:
FANTASY - WRITTEN BY A FEMALE AUTHOR

I decided that since both fantasy and female author got the same number of votes, we'd just combine them. In April we will be voting for a genre only.
edit: if your buddy doesn't have anything that fits the combination, pick one or the other.

Please sign up in the comments:

NOTES:
• you can find help with genres here.
• please have a varied number of books and genres on your reading list. If you're concerned about not having anything that fits this month's choice, please comment in the questions thread below.
our February discussion post is still open! You guys are owning it!
• thank you so much to everyone who has taken part so far ♥

SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED!

REMINDER:
You still have a few days to vote on the March theme/genre! In April I think we may be switching to a genre one month and a theme the next, but for now we'll use the results of this month's poll. The sign-up post for April will be posted in a few days time.

How it works:
Since there are so many options, we're going to go with trial and error until we get it right! So I apologise for having to re-do this post. Vote for the genres & themes you'd be interested in reading in March. In the future I was thinking we could do one month themes, the next genre, and on and so forth. What do you think? Comments on a postcard!

As you all know, starting in March we'll be reading a chosen genre that will have been voted upon by you all.

After a lot of deliberation and input from you all, I've compiled a list of genres, sub-genres and themes for you to use as a reference if you are confused what sort of books fall under what genres.

I've tried to make it as varied as possible so that no matter the genre you should be able to find a few choices in your buddy's TBR list. A lot of themes/sub-genres fall under multiple categories. I've tried to make it as wide as possible, because I know not everyone enjoys every genre, so I wanted people to be able to find something.

If there's any books or genres you're unsure about feel free to comment or PM a mod!

In addition to this, some of you have expressed an interest in perhaps voting for a theme, rather than a genre, so we'll be including themes as well.

This is a reminder that you must pick your buddy's books by tomorrow!
I'm extending it a day since I didn't post a reminder on the 3rd.
If your buddy hasn't picked for you, please comment below.
